OK, so now mid 50s and have been in menopause since 42. Had my last chance baby at 42 too (whilst on HRT). I did take HRT for several years but probably have not taken it for 7 or so years (possibly more). I have been thinking about going back on it as I constantly lack energy, still get hot flushes (but not as debilitating as they were), suffer from hair loss and have put so much weight on since I stopped - all on my stomach and my last smear had to be abandoned due to 'dryness'..
The weight is now a problem and my bp and glucose are slightly raised. Sooo... I have lost over 10lbs in the last few weeks and I am determined that I will lose at least another stone. However, I am worried about sagging and possibly being just as ashamed of my body. I know this is probably inevitable to some extent but does anyone have any idea if it would be helped by HRT or is it now too late, in that the damage has already been done? I am prepared to pay to see someone privately to get on the safest regime for me as I know previously the GPs seemed a little 'one size fits all' when it came to HRT and it was all about the cheapest to the practice.
Perhaps a strange question but wonder if anyone has ideas on this!
