Hi. Hoping if any ladies that use our have used Estraderm patches HRT could tell me their experience please? I understand everyone is different but I'm just interested to know reviews. I'm in surgical menopause following a total hysterectomy with ovaries out on 3 July 2017. Menopause symptoms have kicked in big time so saw GP today and started on HRT. Not willing to wait for symptoms to get any worse so thought I'd give it a shot. I'm 41 so need it to protect my heart and bones.

What would you like to know? I've been using them for 2 years & they have totally alleviated my symptoms. I'm no longer crying at nothing, drenched in sweat or waking up with my heart racing! Hysterectomy March 2015

Hi Nellyphants. That's great. I'm experiencing hot flushes, headaches, night sweats, mood swings and heart palpitations, so if that could ease up it would be great. Could you tell me please has your weight increased while been on patches? I've read so many things about HRT causing weight gain but i think if you keep your calorie intake low and are active then you should be ok.

Since the hysterectomy I put on about 8 pounds. Any weight gain is down to menopause not hrt I think. I just have to eat less! I'm tackling it by increasing exercise & decreasing portion size. I've never eaten sugar or very little processed food. I'd like to still drink wine, about 4 glasses a week.

It's not a given that you have to put on weight or get splogy, it takes more effort but we can do it!

Nellyphants · 28/07/2017 09:40

Should have said I've lost about 6 of the 8, another 4 pounds gone & I'll be gliding into my clothes again

Yes i agree with you. We have the choice to take charge of what we eat and how active we are. I know it'll be tougher keeping weight down during menopause but i can live with that. How has your sleep been? I forgot to add that I'm also suffering with not been able to sleep. Hoping that'll get better worth HRT.

Sleep is so much better, not perfect but much better. I was falling asleep exhausted to wake 2/3 hours later & not able to go back to sleep. Drag myself though the day & repeat. Constantly cranky. I sleep 6/7 hours straight now

Thank you. You give me hope

Had BSO 2 weeks ago and slapped on a patch yesterday. Woke up this morning feeling much improved and less"foggy" even tho I didn't have a great night's sleep. Am also early 40s. Starting on pulses progesterone in a month or two as BRCA2 was reason for operation. Hope you feel benefits soon!

rainbowkids · 13/08/2017 14:59

spaceprawn74 what is pulses progesterone please?

Should be pulsed. Need to minimise my artificial hormones and still have uterus so can't have just oestrogen. So I could have had either mirena coil( have had previously and husband found it uncomfortable..) or pulsed progesterone. so will be having progesterone tablets every 3 months so induce a "period". Long discussion with consultant about the best things for me! Have felt much better since started oestrogen patch and will see what happens on progesterone in October! All the best.

Thank you. All the best to you too x

Omg OMG I need an update! Just came across your status and this is me right now. But what I don’t understand is how on earth I can be so sweaty after having total hysterectomy Confused but I’ve started Estrogen Mx 50 today so fingers crossed.
