Perimenopause & HRT

i went to the doc with feeling tired and lethargic, they did a blood test and everything ok but found i had hormone levels consistent with the menopause, she referred me to a website The Daisy Network and told me to have a look and see if anything related to what I was experiencing and get back to her re HRT. The problem is that I have had depression, stress, anxiety, feeling hot etc for a very long time, I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is hormone related or just me, should I try HRT or wait until I have specific problems

Hi there
The Daisy Network is a charity which supports young women with premature menopause (under 40 and some much younger.)
How old are you?

Ideally you need 2 blood tests some weeks apart for a reliable diagnosis.

Have your periods stopped and if so how long ago?

thanks PollyPerky for replying. I am 45, my last period was in February, I have also recently come of an anti deppresent(flouxetine) so not sure if that may be affecting me too. I'm mainly suffering from lack of energy and feeling like my brain has been replaced by cotton wool! I've been reading a bit about HRT and it sounds good but am worried about progesterone as it can reduce serotonin levels and I already struggle with depression.

Did you have depression before peri meno? If not it may be hormonal depression.
There are several types of progestogens - one is bound to be okay for you.

I've on and off had depression, stress, anxiety for as long as I can remember. I'd been on the tablets for about 8 years. If you are wondering why I don't talk to the doctor about this I felt she was a little dismissive when I first talked to her and I am very low in confidence at the moment, I feel a bit lost to be honest.
