Aches and pains

It's been eighteen months since my periods stopped so am now menopausal. I no longer get the terrible hot flushes and sleep problems but I am left with really sore muscles and aching joints which isn't improving.

Did hrt help you with the aches and pains? It's making me feel really old and everything hurts.

I didn't take hrt when I was peri as I wanted to know when my periods stopped naturally and I was hoping that it would all right itself. Most of my symptoms have gone it's just the aching and stiffness. I am 51 by the way.

Yes for me HRT has helped with aching hands in the morning, feet and elbows. I get very little soreness now. Prior to HRT I could barely open my hands in the morning.

Thanks Hello, that's interesting that hrt has helped you.

I coped with all the peri symptoms but this aching makes me feel so old especially when I wake up in the morning and can hardly move. My hands and feet are so bad at times.

It's such a joy isn't it. Smile

I take HRT, am in the peri stage at the moment, for a number of symptoms including aches and pains. GP also recommended Pilates. I have certainly noticed a difference

One of the reasons I started on her, have been on a few months now, flushes and night sweats took only a few days to go and the joint aches really getting better now and all of the wired erratic muscle pains.

I'm 6 months without periods. I had awful aches n pains in my ankles, knees and hips for several months. I though we need to replace the mattress as I was hobbling in myths morning. I googled and came to the conclusion that it was inflammation in the joints which is a peri menopausal symptom. I upped my water intake and started taking an omega 3 supplement & evening primrose oil. This seems to have worked really well for me so may be worth a try?

Collagen supplements are working for me

PollyPerky · 27/07/2017 07:48

It's worth a try?
Not sure about taking collagen supplements orally- I didn't think that collagen could be absorbed by the gut to have any effects (this is the same as companies who market it for better skin. Pretty sure it cannot be absorbed as it's something we make ourselves but can't 'put back' by swallowing it.)

I hobble everywhere it's awful 😥

PollyPerky · 29/07/2017 16:49

You've already asked this question on another thread!
HRT is all pretty much the same. The estrogen in it is usually estradiol and there are 3 kinds of progestogens ( plus the Mirena.)
No one can tell you- you need to try one and see how you get on.
I left a link for you to Menopause Matters on your other thread.

YY to the joint pain, my hip is really painful tonight; I've tried paracetomol and a heated pad but nothing is helping.
