I'm 43. Last year my period went missing for a month.. then was fine again. I had a period 3 weeks ago as normal then after just two weeks my period came again and I've had a few days off and now it's back again! I'm scared I'm bloody dying or something! My sister tells me don't worry it's the menopause. My last smear end of last year was clear. Is this normal? Could it be something else???

It could be. Menopause symptoms vary so massively it is almost impossible to say. Some people have consecutive periods like the one you describe - for others they go awol for months at a time. I had 5 years of having a period every 8 months - exactly 8, really weird.

If you're worried check with your GP.

Yes, I'd say so. I'm 48 now and two years ago had a period that lasted about six weeks, stopped for about a week, started again for another three weeks. Really heavy and lots of blots. Mentioned to GP when I went with something else and he said yes, peri menopause.
Have had a couple of heavy ones since but generally now they're light and irregular.
