Positive home test- now what

I got a home test due to suddenly having very scant brown discharge instead of period blood as I'd heard it could be a sign of peri menopause. The test is definitely positive- has anyone had a positive test that was wrong it was it right and what was the next step?

why did you do the test ?
Tests are not reliable. They only test your hormones on that time of that day. In peri your hormones can change every day.
Obviously the only other thing to consider is if you could be pregnant (if that's a possible) and there is no other medical reason for the discharge.

You don't need do anything! peri is not an illness, it's a stage we all go through.

I did the test due to having sudden change in menstruation. Very scant bleeding and very brown and sticky rather than any actual blood

How old are you? Is this the first sign of anything different?

I'm 37 in July
I've previously had really heavy bleeding which is now very light and more like brown discharge.

You need to see your GP for a full range of blood tests. You are 15 years too young for meno, so if this is an earlymenopause you need medical support.
