PMT from hell

I'm 45 in a few months and struggling with my periods and related anxiety - plus terrible PMT. Cycle is now 21 days (approx) and I suffer with the worst PMT I've ever had for 3-4 days each cycle.
Has anyone ever had the contraceptive injection to alleviate PMT? If so, which one, was it successful? I'm desperate to get rid of my terrible PMT but worried about weight gain and any other side effects.

I was prescribed fluoxetine to take from day 14-28 of my cycle this has helped me massively with anxiety, insomnia and mood swings

Do you take any other meds or just this?
Not always sure of my cycle. It's a bit erratic. X

No just this one but my cycle is regular at the moment so it works
