Ovestin

Long time user and had lots of advice on this thread before. Feeling very uncomfortable as though I have a UTI, ie peeing two or three times during the night. Would it be a good idea to up Ovestin, ie two weeks every night. Up until now I have been using it twice a week. Also quite sore on the outside of the vagina. Would it be OK to use Ovestin there or are there any other creams you would recommend. It would be sooo nice to get back to sleeping through the night and not desperately rushing to the loo.

It's safe to use it as often as needed. Try daily for 2 weeks then maybe 3 x a week after that?

Oh and slap it on the outside too! Some people find it can sting a bit but I find this wears off once the skin is more plumped up!

Yes, do a reload and use more than twice a week when you go back on maintenance. Also as Polly said, use it on the outside bits as well.

I use Ovestin daily every morning otherwise symptoms return.

Thanks everyone. Two days on and feel better already. I sometimes feel that the GPs in our practice don't really have much knowledge. If I go to the GPs about something else and as I'm leaving ask them about the safety of Ovestin they quickly consult the literature on line and say you should have a break but when I say having a break is a nightmare cos all the symptoms return +++ they then say "well continue as you have been doing". Have to say most of my knowledge has come from here!

My Meno Consultant said okay to use it everyday. Its about 1/2 Oestrogen HRT pills extra a year as a guideline.

I was told that stupid nonsense too, GP said you could only use it for a total of 2 years maximum.
I also got told by NHS consultant gynaecologist that because I had used Vagifem for a year I should have an endometrial biopsy and have a Mirena fitted even I wanted to continue using it.
I went private after that!
My meno specialist told me topical oestrogen was safe to use every day for life.
