Hot flushes and alternatives to HRT

I had been on Elleste Duet (2mg) and my hot flushes were under control, I had to stop due to sudden, heavy bleeding and the flushes came back. While off Elleste I had no bleeds at all but the flushes were unmanageable. So I went back to the GP who put me back on Elleste and surprise, surprise the bleeding is back, apart from a few days of 'normal' period type blood loss the bleeding is bright red with small clots and is constant. I have decided to stop the HRT again but are there any other measures I can take to stop the flushes? They literally push me to the point of wanting to be dead.

It's not normal at all to have that kind of bleeding with sequential HRT.
Has your GP not referred you for an ultrasound scan?You could have a fibroid for example that's being stimulated by the extra estrogen.

How far along the meno scale are you?
If you are still in peri and producing your own hormones a little, it's possible the 2mgs dose was too high and the progestogen too low.
You certainly ought not to give up on HRT after one brand that didn't suit you, if you don't want to.
There are lots of other options including the Mirena coil and a separate oestrogen. I know my own dr wouldn't just 'accept ' your experience- they'd investigate why it was happening and offer other types.
