Anyone taken this combination? Its only been five days and already im forgetting to take the progesterone on an empty stomach!

I was getting so emotional and the sweats were horrific. I work in itu and wasnt coping too well. I dont think anyone noticed but i did. I havent had a period for 3 months. Im 49. Any advice?

Yes you can take supplements- it's just food / herbal.

25 patch is very low. In peri at 49 I'm surprised they have given you such a low does; more usual is 37 or 50mgs patch. Are you due for a 3 month review? You might need a stronger dose.

Don't worry about taking the progesterone on an empty stomach- it's to reduce side effects. My consultant says it makes hardly any difference when they are taken.

Bit odd though- why are you taking them 5 days into the regime? In peri you'd usually have them for 12 days from day 15 of a 28 day cycle.

Are you taking them daily? This is not right as you have to be 12 months without a period for continuous regimes ( ie both hormones every day.)

Did your GP prescribe this?

Yes, it's wrong.

You are not yet at the stage for continuous HRT (both hormones daily or progesterone for 25 days. You need to be 1 year post meno for that.)

You need to follow the instructions in the packet- it's Utrogestan? The regime for you at this stage is 12 tablets of 200mgs ( so 2 x 100mgs) from day 15. Then you will have a bleed starting around 3 days later.

Was this not explained to you?

I'm not having regular periods it hasn't been a year but it has been months. Of course it was a GP can't bloody believe it. Took me ages to get an appointment she said she'll see me in three months.

Just stop the Utrogestan now- you might have a slight bleed for a few days when the levels fall off. Then start again on 200mgs daily in 10 days time, to re-set the cycle. You haven't done any harm by taking them daily. You may not have a bleed after the 15 days (each month) on only 25mgs patch and especially this month as you've taken 5 days anyway.
