Can't Sleep; hot flushes

I just can't sleep. It feels like I'm burning up with a fever all night. I can't take anything hormonal because I've had breast cancer. I leave for work at 7am, but just can't sleep now and I need to.

Still awake. I've tried a glass of water next to my bed, to sip, but then I'm running to the loo all night

How the hell am I supposed to function today? Does anyone else go through this and what do you do?

If no HRT the best thing I've found was changing my duvet to a wool one(soak and sleep) it regulated my temperature so I don't wake up n a hot flush or cold puddle of sweat. They still happen but I don't wake up.

I Also menopace and Agnus castus . I don't find my diet makes any difference though I do have quite a healthy diet.but some people swear by avoiding caffeine or red wine. I have a glass of water to down in the morning to replace fluid.

I think that I'm going to try and see my GP this afternoon. I can't go on like this. I have to be careful with things like Menopace, I don't exactly know why, so I'm going to ask & see what can be done.

HRT. That's what it's there for. If you have no medical reasons not to, why not try it?

My gynae consultant told me recently that some oncologists are prescribing HRT for women who've had breast cancer. There seems to be a difference of opinion. The thinking is that oestrogen doesn't cause breast cancer but only promotes the growth of cells that exist already and would have developed into cancer eventually without HRT.

Maybe you can see someone who can help?

Cut out sugar, avoid red wine.

Agree a wool duvet is better. I keep a wet hand towel beside the bed, and place over my head, face, neck abdomen as needed until it passes. Yes to water and yes to needing to pee - frustrating but good for hydration and preventing my recurring kidney stones! (Silver linings and all that).

Good idea to go back to GP. I keep being told there are numerous types of HRT, hopefully there would be something safe/r for you to use. I do sympathise
