I had an endometrial ablation this morning - hoping it works

After years of heavy bleeding and 2 coils that have worked intermittently I'm hoping that the ablation works.

I'm nearly 47 and just starting with night sweats and hot flushes and I still have to find some form of contraception for a few years, which is a real pain.

I'm currently lying on my sofa full of ibuprofen with a wheat bag on my tummy watching The Fall and feeling sorry for myself.

Thanks for this thread, I'm due to have the procedure soon and was getting a bit nervous about the side effects, but this thread has reassured me I'm doing the right thing. Smile

Hi Ladies,
I'm 51 and had endrometrial ablation on Tues 11th Feb , I'm so bloated and gassy today, I have been bloated since the operation but it's worse today 🙃 I feel heavy in the stomach area, is this normal and how long will it take to feel myself? Hopefully tomorrow will be a new day and the tummy will start to go down, any advice is much appreciated x

This was my original thread.

Few weeks after my last post I started bleeding again. Ablation didn't work for me at all.

I had a hysterectomy in June 2017 after months of bleeding. I had lots and lots of fibroids and a bulky uterus.

Hope it works for you. Wish I'd just gone for the hysterectomy.

@Flukey73 I had this on 13th Feb and felt horrible after the pain was so bad like really bad contractions. I wasn’t blessing that much at all just a tiny bit and now just clear discharge on and off. The days after it my stomach was also so bloated and hurt so much I slept most of the day on day 3. Went to work on day 5 and 6 still bloated and felt so uncomfortable. Bloating started to ease on days 8 but Monday just gone the bloating started again and it felt exactly the same as it did at the beginning I couldn’t even sleep on Monday night because of it and the pain that was on and off all night. I still feel really bloated today and it will be 3 weeks 2moz. I’m just hoping this bloating goes soon and it actually works or even just makes my periods not last as long
