Post menopause at 48 after endometrial ablation

Due to having an endometrial ablation years ago I haven't had periods as such but did still feel that I had a 'cycle' of sorts. Have now had 3 blood tests taken & my GP says I'm post-menopause at 48 but I'm still having night sweats & terrible insomnia. Does anyone have experience of this? Will I need hrt as I'm still relatively young?

As far as I know the emblation won't have caused the menopause. The two are separate. The blood test may or may not be accurate (during peri they are unreliable.) Were they done between days 2-5 of each cycle?

Being post menopause doesn't mean an end to symptoms, sadly. Symptoms often just start once periods stop completely. Some women continue to have flushes etc for 20 years and my consultant says some women have them forever. My symptoms began after my (almost) final period.

48 is not that young but on the 'young side' as the average age is 51. Taking HRT is your choice and depends on how you feel without it or if you need something to help.
