Hi ladies, I've just started on these (day 5). Had them prescribed a few months ago but had surgery scheduled and a holiday planned. Having not had a period for a long time (well the odd one every year or so) didn't want one whilst away.

Anyway, I'm hoping to not bleed but guessing I will??

I don't really have any meno symptoms at the moment but do periodically get long stretches (several months) of hot flushes so hoping this will stop them. Plus prevent osteoporosis (I'm 43 and been peri for about 6 years)

I've noticed that my jaw is tight, feels clenched. No idea why. Been a few days. It aches, feels uncomfortable. Is this s side effect? No idea where it's come from otherwise.....

ah yes - had this since I came off the pill. HRT has not stopped it unfortunately. Sometimes it is my whole body.

I am going to yoga and practicing it.

But mines only just started - since starting hrt. Could it be that?

It's not a side effect of HRT according to the blurb...

Any chance you are anxious about taking it and you are teeth clenching in your sleep? TBH you might be best seeing your dentist for a check up on anything to do with your jaw.

I don't feel stressed but had this when I was going through redundancy notice a few years ago. I do feel a bit overwhelmed by housework.. Maybe that's it!!

One of my adult DCs had this and the dentist diagnosed teeth grinding- tense jaw. If it's in your sleep you won't know you are doing it. The 'cure' was a mouth guard but once DC knew what it was, they seemed to relax and it went away.

The menopause business came as a shock to me all at once, and I haven't got to the bottom of the jaw clenching. I think it is something to do with stress and adrenaline and the hormone change may have set it off. Some of my older friends say that they have trouble relaxing properly.

The best thing seems to do something physical for the adrenaline, and then to do relaxation to relax. Attention to posture helps too. If you stretch out and lengthen your neck and relax your shoulders, it helps you to relax the jaw too. It seems to get trapped in this difficult position by the tense muscles around it. So some attention to neck and shoulder exercises to help the ones that hold your head in a good position will help here too. The mouth guard is a good idea to limit damage at night and to remind your body where things should be.

It may be the change of hormone levels has set it off, but you are only on day 5. You need to try it for at least 3 months for things to settle and hopefully with the exercises, it will pass.

Thanks ladies, it's very strange as I really am not stressed or anxious at all. No more than normal but did suffer with this very badly when I was under redundancy notice.

I have recently joined a gym and I'm planning on a few classes including yoga & Pilates so hopefully they will help. Hoping I can find the energy for some faster paced ones too as I need to loose a few stone!

I'll have a search for a mouth guard in the meantime...
