Periods just stopped.

I'm nearly 48 and haven't had a period for over 18 months. Prior to this they were normal and regular if a little heavier on occasion. Is it unusual for periods to just suddenly stop? I have episodes of flushing and feeling rapid changes in body temperature, particularly at night.

Sounds like menopause to me.

Mine didn't stop all of a sudden but they did decrease very rapidly; skip 1 month, skip 3 months, skip 2 months, skip 4 months, gone. I never had night sweats nor particularly bad 'power surges' Everyone experiences it differently. If you're concerned, make an appt with your doctor or nurse and talk to them.

I'm so envious! My mother and sister both had theirs just stop. I wish mine would!

Anything's normal- long drawn out slowing down, long gaps and sudden stops!

My grandma said hers just stopped when she was 50 and that was it. Sadly, I did not take after her. Sad

Thank you. My mother went through a horrendous time during the peri and actual menopause. She expected mine to be the same and is concerned it's all happened too soon and is too easy. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
