Perimenopause & a shrinking fanjo :( !

My fanjo is shrinking & I think it must be menopause related.... Gosh, who knew I am 48, still have periods although irregular for 4 years - 21 days on average & last month's cycle was a whopping 80 days. Been single for 3 years since divorce, no nookie, but I'm pretty sure it would be no fun down there if the chance came along... Everything is dry & irritated but the main symptom comes from wearing tampons. There does not seem to be enough room for a super tampon & have downsized to regular. Back in the day, I was a super plus girl! Towards the end of the marriage (no biological kids) I had recurrent uti problems but have not experienced hot flushes, yet... Off to the doc to discuss HRT. Will an estrogen cream get my nethers back to normal or will I need to go the whole hog with patches? No cancer issue but history of cystic breasts. It really does feel different down there & I hope that estrogen cream can sort the shrinkage out I go in hope of meeting Mr Wonderful & want to be match fit

There is hope :) and you are 100% right to go and see the doc as it will only get worse if you leave it. The 'regime' is to use the cream or pessary for 2 weeks , daily, then twice a week thereafter. You might have to wait a few months to see maximum improvement. Don't take any crap from the GP about only being able to use it for a few weeks or months. NICE new guidelines say use indefinitely and no risks. If you stop using it the symptoms will come back. Best of luck!

Sorry I missed part of your post...
if you have full blown peri symptoms apart from the fanjo, then try HRT but if only fanjo, start with the cream. Lots of women use both. (me!) You will get better results with the fanjo dryness with the cream so maybe start with that first and see how you go? It's safe and even old ladies in their 80s use it.
