Am I perimenopausal ?

I am going through a divorce, not has sex in a couple of years so can't have any kind of infection etc.

I have (what I have concluded this week) are ovulation pains, really bad. Last a couple of days, burning pain - twice I thought I had appendicitis! Now I have twigged always mid-cycle and same pain. My boobs hurt too (like when first pregnant), discharge at this time is inoffensive but heavy. Bad back, aches and pains.

My periods are becoming more and more irregular - I was always 28 days. Sometimes one every 2 months now. Then 2 weeks. When they do come they are HEAVY! 8 tampons in one day was the record.

I haven't been on the pill for years but I am wondering if I should? If it would help even this out? Does anyone know the age limit or if it is even a good idea?

I haven't even described the emotional roller coaster I feel I am on. I feel utterly hormone dependent at the mo - it seems to control me.

I have tried to see/speak to my GP ... No appointments for over 2 weeks and they are not booking after that!

Thank so so much. Sorry if TMI!

Sorry Gerty one more question if you don't mind... So did you come off at 52 and your menapause had been and gone? No more periods?

I am SO sorry I forgot to come back on this topic for some stupid reason (the menopause had ended?!?) Yes, for some reason even tho you are on the Pill thru the menopause, you seem to get some symptoms OF the menopause but in a milder way - so you get heavier bleeds, then lighter bleeds (just as someone NOT on the Pill but not the 1/2 pints of blood flooding) and then over (a longish) time (you think WHEN?!) the bleeds do go lighter and lighter. When mine were so light it was a teaspoon for 2 days and then nil, I did a trial "come off the Pill" and yes I was thru the menopause! YIPPEEE! Meantime my pals who took nil had worse symptoms and for longer eg floods, sweats, awful hot flushes, migraines, couldnt sleep (lots of them mentioned that...). The menopause isnt one year its 2, 3 or whatever years of the hormones going up and down and up and finally down, down, down. Apols once more for delay x
