Best nightwear for nightsweats

What's the best material for nightwear when suffering from nightsweats? I usually wear 100% cotton but still end up drenched.

I've heard about moisture-wicking materials (bamboo?), but most of the sites for moisture-wicking nightwear are American.

My default is cold in bed (until the sweat hits) so need to wear something in bed.

someone on another thread mentioned using merino wool PJ's.

The best treatment if there is no medical reason not to, is HRT. No need to suffer when help is available.

I was wondering this today at the gym. You don't wear cotton to the gym as it doesn't do the moisture wicking thing. All my gym clothes are basically not cotton.

It sounds nicer to wear a cotton nightie but perhaps I should actually wear my gym kitConfused

Thank you. I'll look up merino wool (sounds really warm though, doesn't it?!)

The thing is, i'm not actually sure if I am (peri)menopausal. I'm in my late 30's but have been suffering nightsweats for several years. Been to GP, had blood/urine tests which ruled out anything physical, including menopause. Probably stress related. I'm taking steps to deal with it, but the sweats keep coming.

Which blood tests have you had and when in your cycle?

Might be worth having a read of the Daisy Network site which is for women having premature meno- which you would be at 39.

The blood tests should be for FSH, LH and oestrodiol- and taken on days 2-5 of your cycle (and repeated over a couple of months.)

Lookdownthesofa · 07/04/2016 22:40

I know that one of the tests was for FSH, don't think the others were tested.

I was (and still am) on the combined contraceptive pill. I did ask the GP whether that would affect the results, but she said not. However, I did stop the pill and waited for a proper period (didn't take too long) before having the blood test. I can't remember when in the cycle it was though.

Thanks for the recommendation for the Daisy Network site.

Anyone know where to source merino wool pjs? From what i've seen so far it's mostly baby stuff.

I'm suffering from night sweats, but I can't take HRT because I've had breast cancer.
Cancer research uk are doing a trial about using folic acid for night sweats. I did phone my gp & CRUK, but neither my gp nor the cruk nurse knew much about it. Does anyone know anything about folic acid or have any breast cancer friendly remedies?
