Palpitations

Had really horrible palpitations last night, kept waking me up over and over again.
Went to GP today and mentioned my periods are now only 22 days apart and wondered if it was connected.
She dismissed me out of hand and said no connection!
I'm confused as I'd read that palpatations and shorter cycle were symptoms of perimeno... I'm 41 by the way.
aLSO have errible brain fog, joint pain, sore boobs all the time and rage.

:(

I have had awful palpitations at night since I was 47, this tied in with changing menstral patterns. I was seen by cardiologist who agreed they were due to hormone fluctuations. I was prescribed a betablocker to take at night if needed.
Now 5 years later they have got more of a problem, I have seen a meno doctor who again said they were hormonal. I have now decided to start HRT because of them and other symptoms I have got.

Thanks for your reply, hope the HRT sorts it out. I think I need to explore it too.
Quite shocked by the GP's dismissive attitude, she asked me to make a separate appointment to discuss my periods Hmm and then sent me for an ECG, which showed no immediate abnormalities.

Yes I have palpitations too and a funny sort of feeling after, like excitement but not iykwim?

Hrt patches (100mcg) have sorted out the palms but not the feelings. When I took tabs they were still there.

I am also awaiting results of a thyroid test because apparantly palpitations can be a sign of hypo/er thyroidism. Who knew?

I'm 43

Have you had your iron checked? I had night palpitations and extreme tiredness. Turned out I was anaemic due to heavy bleeding (fibroids). Since taking iron the palpitations have stopped.

FrameyMcFrame · 13/11/2015 19:43

Ok, interesting. I've had nothing checked, no blood tests etc. It's the periods going close together that made me google it all first, after having 31 day cycles for decades... I have also been waking up soaked in sweat but just assumed I had too warm night clothes on.
I'll need to push for some tests I think. Ypour description of feelng excited FuckyNell, that sums it up, light I'm up a height, as my Mum would say.
Good to talk to others who are experiencing same thing, felt very depressed and worried today, and also so tired as I didn't get much sleep.
