Over due a smear test but i am spotting?

What do i do. I mean i havent had one for 7 years . Bit the bullet as i am spotting but have also missed a few periods. Wanted to get checked so i have my smear on Thursday but how can i go when i am spotting on and off? What will i do? Please advise me!!!!

I have had a smear test before whilst spotting, i would either ring up and speak to practice nurse or just go along to appointment and mention it then.

Well it came on more than spotting but thanks. Felt i had to cancel it. Will have to wait until it gets lighter or goes. Thanks!!! Was really unsure.
