Which dose of Femoston are you on and is it cyclical ( ie you get a withdrawal bleed) or continuous combined? It is not a foregone conclusion that you put on weight on HRT in fact I have lost it over the years - although I do need to make more of an effort.

Many women put on weight at this time of life anyway due to change in metabolism (slowing down) because of a number of factors all connected with our endocrine system (hormones).

You can read about it here in relation to menopause:
Diet, Lifestyle and exercise: www.menopausematters.co.uk/diet.php
Weight gain: www.menopausematters.co.uk/weightgain.php

Some women find boob size increases or rather the tissues becomes more dense from the oestrogen part of HRT. Also some women find that progestogens cause fluid retention and bloating and this would be exacerbated on continuous combined HRT where you take progestogens all the time.

Maybe have a look at your diet, increase your exercise - especially resistance to prevent muscle wastage and/or look into trying a different type of HRT. Perhaps go onto cyclical HRT if on conti ( but you would get a bleed).

You didn't say if the weight gain was since starting HRT either?

Maybe ask for a blood test and check thyroid function which can cause weight gain in the absence of other explanations? You wold be feeling tired and probably cold if this was a problem.
