Maybe TMI but vaginal dryness and HRT

I'm taking the pill to manage peri menopause symptoms. Before that I was briefly prescribed an oestrogen cream to help with dryness. It really helped but GP refused to prescribe again as she said I was too young for HRT.

It's 7 years later, I'm 46 and qlaira is really managing random bleeding symptoms, mood swings, anxiety etc etc. But I still have the dryness.

Short question, can you take an oestrogen cream and the pill? I'm reluctant to come off qlaira, but would love a solution other than lube which is only partially helping...

Yes you definitely CAN have both. Oestrogen cream is extremely low dose. Your GP is giving you very bad information. Try the Menopause Matter forum for expert advice. It is run by a doctor who is expert in the menopause.

It makes me so cross that so many GPs are so ignorant of women's issues.

The age of menopause is 45-56 with 51-52 being average.

At 46 your hormones are clearly falling so you are not too young.

You can use local oestrogen cream at 46 or at any age- some women use it while breast feeding, others use it in their 90s!

It is very low dose and hardly any is absorbed.

1:4 women on HRT also need vaginal creams.

Any option to change your GP- or at least print off info from Menopause Matters site and take it along to educate her?

Vagifem pessaries are very low dose, they don't count as systemic HRT.
My Gp was originally only happy to give me couple of prescriptions, but the problem reappears if PV oestrogen is stopped.
After reading up on it, she was happy to continue prescribing it, and I've been using it for about 4 years now
