Itchy skin plus tingly fingers and feet - is this the menopause?

I have itchy skin and feet that tingle - could this be the menopause, rather than diabetes?

I know that I should see a doctor, but I'm scared. For some months, I have had tingly feet and fingers. I had assumed this could be pre-diabetes and I have been watching what I eat. I have now discovered that this can also be a symptom of the menopause. I have deliberately avoided reading about this but it could be a relief to know that the symptoms are normal. I feel a bit like a teenager coming on for the first time and thinking she is dying, rather than knowing it is something natural.

Did anyone else have these symptoms and what helps? What will happen if I go to see a doctor? I don't really want to do HRT but I don't know anything about it.

You probably wouldn't want to start HRT really until you had serious symptoms and your cycle become irregular.

There are lots of menopausal symptoms - some of them quite unusual but I would always go to the doc about your symptoms just to rule out anything else and put your mind at rest - or get appropriate treatment if necessary.

How old are you and what is your cycle doing and do you have any other symptoms - why do you think it could be menopause?

If you want to read about menopause this is the best site:
www.menopausematters.co.uk/index.php

It tells you about HRT as well.
