Dunno - hopefully someone will be along who knows!!

I have only had the night ones. That is easy - you wake up in a puddle. Grin

sounds like you're having them .

everyone is different- some women go beetroot and faces literally drip, others just feel warm. Tends to last for anything from 20 seconds to a couple of minutes usually starting at chest/ neck and moving up to face.

It's like blushing but for no reason.

Some women say ( not me) they feel faint, pounding heart and wave of anxiety before they have one.

I get a sudden feeling of anxiety followed by a brief (but weird) palpitation, but it does not lead to a hot flush. Wonder if it is related.

I started off by getting hot generally like you say, and wondered if it was hot flushes - in my case it turned out that it wasn't! When they started coming properly (several months later) I knew about it and they are/were unmistakeable! What you are experiencing is a sure sign that menopause is on the way - especdially if your periods have become irregular.

I was talking to a doctor a while ago who said she recommends her patients reduce carbs in their diets as it seemed to reduce flushes. She said she is always clear that it is not official advice but just something she has learned from years of experience in women's health

My flushes don't reach my face, I feel very hot and then go very sweaty under the boobs and across the back of my neck. Can have two a day or twenty, no rhyme to the sequence! I call it my boil/freeze cycle because after the flush has done the job of cooling your body down, I feel bloody cold!
