Can weight loss trigger menopausal symptoms?

Hello new to this topic (sob)
Have been eating well (usually do but doing extra) and exercising in preparation for bikini wearing holiday. Have lost half a stone since January so pretty gradual.
Anyway, just turned 48 and last couple of months feeling awful with hot flushes, fatigue, anxiety and insomnia.
Wondering if shouldn't have bothered with weight loss as it was hard won and now feel rotten. Of course it could be coincidence...

I had heard the opposite - weight loss eases symptoms. Might be a coincidence? I do sympathise, it's horrible
