Being tested for early menopause

Have been told bloods might come back fine but it doesn't mean I'm not going through it early. Any ideas as to what to do whichever way the results are?

I think you need to push for a series of tests rather than just a single one because as you have pointed out, a test is not always accurate as hormones fluctuate daily.

Why not have a look at the Daisy network- online- which is a site for early meno? I think there may be a forum there but if not there is lots of info.

It's usually agreed that HRT is essential for menopause before the age of 45, so your drs ought to be thinking along those lines to protect you from serious illnesses later in life.

I'm feeling a bit like it isn't going to go well. I queried my last results and the doctor didn't like that. I'm seeing a different doctor who is new in a fortnight though. I'm under 45 and have been having symptoms for at least six months. Not sleeping well at all and fell asleep on the sofa the other day and by seven I'd like to go to bed some days. I have to go to my volunteer job soon but will look on line later, thank you. Also having trouble retaining information and that doesn't help.

The Daisy Network does have a forum but think you need to pay £20 annual sub. Might be worth it though.

It's a shame the dr didn't like you querying- it's not his fault or yours, it's just what happens. I had a false 'positive' result and my dr just laughed and said something along the lines of 'oh well that just proves they aren't always right'.

I hope you get some support.

Hi
I'm in the same boat as you...hi again pinkfrocks
I have had pretty much all of peri symptoms for a year, backwards and forwards to the doc with not much support as they won't accept it. Had two blood tests as recommended day 3 and day 14, 3 was normal 14 was high so pushed for a repeat. Just got results from day 1 and perfectly normal. So doc still not convinced. Makes me think I'm a lunatic!
I hope you get some answers soon justusemyname
Sorry to hijack your thread! Xx

No wise words as I am in the midst of this at 38. Started when I was 36. Need to get another test but HRT has been mentioned. I am hypothyroid too which complicates things a little more apparently.

mandmsmummy · 30/04/2015 23:01

I'm 39 fluffy! My Mum and Sister went through meno at 43 ish so I don't get why my doctor isn't more acceptable! X

Chocolou · 30/04/2015 23:30

Sorry to hijack op but can I ask. If you take a combined pill how would you know if you are peri or indeed menopausal.
I 40 and a friend pointed out a lot of my symptoms I have she had when she was menopausal.
I take the pill so how would the gp know?

Justusemyname · 13/05/2015 13:49

I've no idea, Chocolou, sorry.

I'm not going through the early menopause but are not being tested for cancer x 2 so I guess I'll be on a different topic now Confused.
