Brown spotting between periods

I am 50 and think I am starting to experience signs of menopause. Particularly this month I have had quite a bit of brown spotting. In the past I used to get a bit of brown spotting around ovulation but this has been on and off since my last period almost 2 weeks ago. Is this a normal symptom?

Yes and no. Break through bleeding is common when progesterone levels fall at the wrong time of the month. But any bleeding ought to be reported to your GP just to be on the safe side.
