I'm on the contraceptive implant, generally get on well with it (this is my second one) and have very light sporadic periods. Period turned up on Friday, no problem. On Sunday, I was out with one of the DCs and felt a bit of wetness. Again, no bother, we're on our way back to the car so I'll sort it out when we get home. Driving home, I got a sudden flood, right through my sanitary towel, knickers and trousers and onto the car seat (thank god for wipe-clean leather car seats
). Dashed into the toilet at home, passed a couple of clots and had a heavy flow for most of the rest of the day. Then all back to normal (apart from a conversation I hadn't planned on with 6yo DD...).
So how do I tell if it's the start of the menopause if I'm on hormonal contraceptive? FWIW, I'm 43 and my mother had a reassonably early menopause at about the same age.
