Did it help? I can't use HRT and am fed up with hot flushes (20+ a day) and not sleeping because of them Sad

I haven't heard of Prozac being used but some anti depressants are used for women who cannot use HRT.

Why can you not use HRT?

I had a focal migraine while I was taking HRT, dr said it increased risk of having a stroke if I carried on taking it! While hot flushes are getting me down (well the lack if sleep they're causing is) I'd rather not have a stroke Sad

were you using tablet form HRT? Patches and gels are much less likely to cause blood clots but obviously don't know your full history. Might be worth asking for an expert ( specialist) opinion if you feel it would shed more light on it.

Thanks pink, it was tablets, I tried patches first of all but I reacted to them... lovely little red itchy circles left behind for ages after I stopped using them, not a good look in a bikini Grin! If fluoxetine doesn't help then I will ask for referral to specialist, luckily my GP is a very helpful and understanding woman Smile

there is also gel instead of patches. you rub it on your upper arms or front of thighs.

I've been taking fluoxetine for over a year, and it has made no impression on my night sweats.
