Hi

I am peri menopausal and although I have had a variety of symptoms my main symptom and the hardest to cope with is my bad mood. I am on day 2 of taking evening primrose oil hoping it will help and wondered how long it takes to make a difference.

As far as I know, EPO has no effect on periods or peri meno.
There has been some research on it and I don't think there was any proof at all it did anything.
Have a google and see what you can find.
The only use I know of is for painful breasts as part of PMS.

I found this for you

Evening Primrose effectiveness

It's not very detailed - it's not a trial- though it summarises various trials.

I swear by evening primrose (although my friend thinks its useless) I started noticing an improvement after a week. Just give it a bit of time. Goodluck

I also found some trials after posting that link. They said that the women in the trials were taking 3-4 grams a day.

I think it's fabulous!!!! I take 3 x 1000 mg a day. It's stopped the flushes and the irritation/anger. It took about 3 months to make a difference.
