Hairloss?

Am 50, thnk I am just starting menopause. Couple of missed periods, some night sweats. But worse, I am moulting! Reminds me of post pregnancy when my hair was coming out which I believe is normal. Is this hairloss normal now? It's not handfuls but when I brush it there is a noticeable amount on the brush and when I wash it,the plug hold has more in than usual.

Is this normal?

Anyone?

It's a symptom but not all women suffer from it. Hair does thin with loss of oestrogen so that is 'normal' but not all women lose it quickly like you are.
You might want to ask to have your thyroid checked as this can cause hair loss.

Thanks. Am also very anaemic at the moment and having testing for coeliac so suppose it could be that. Very worrying!

Hair is very closely linked to diet so if you are anaemic and possibly not absorbing nutrients because of coeliac these could be more important factors than low oestrogen.

Hair is made from protein so if you aren't eating enough or not absorbing your food properly then hair does suffer.

Thanks. Hopefully it will all be sorted soon!

Eat eggs every day. It really helps.

I have a very low oestrogen count and without a hormone boost my hair does fall out at a speedy rate.
