I'm 49 and recently been getting heavy periods, but they stop after 3 days, then restart after another 3/4 days (only a little bit, but enough to annoy). I have regular smears, and recently had a internal ultrasound scan, which showed I had polyps. I kind of think this stop/start period is hormonal (I'm also getting night sweats, and other menopausal symptoms) but could the polyps be causing the bleeding too?
