Can you start HRT before your AF stops?

I'm 44, still having a cycle albeit a bit irregular, but over the last few months I've noticed Im getting night sweats (well early morning sweats), hot flushes during the day, obvious mood swings and achey joints.

My brain seems to have gone on holiday and forgotten to take my body with it, and I'm struggling to cope at work and juggle home life.

Wondering if I need to wait it out until my periods stop or is there something I can take now?

Hi
Just marking my place. I'm 2 years older, but going through much the same & have been for a couple of years. Just want AF to go away & not come back, but maybe there is something that can be taken now.

Go to the GP. They will probably do investigations to assess your degree of peri-menopause first, but you don't have to wait until periods stop before starting HRT.

Besides, if you are starting now, you may need extra protection against osteoporosis. Ie HRT.

I was your age when my af stopped for about 7 months with just a bit of spotting here and there. I had blood tests done, which showed that menopause was here Sad , and the doc prescribed HRT that "forced" a monthly bleed.

Thank you I will def see GP.

I feel so ignorant about menopause. My DM had a hysterectomy when she was late 30s and went straight onto HRT, so never had any symptoms iyswim.

Time to get clued up I guess!
