My Dr thinks I should have the coil fitted to relieve my perimenapsusal symptoms. Has this worked for anyone?

I assume that you are talking about the Mirena coil and the answer is no. The Mirena coil does not emit enough hormones to relieve permenopausal symptoms. You will need to go on a low dose birth control pill, which will help enormously with the symptoms.

My Dr doesnt seem to know what is right. Looks like I need a specialist.

If you are in London [http://www.chelwest.nhs.uk/services/womens-health-services/gynaecology-services/menopause-and-pms-clinics/clinics this] is the clinic to go to. I saw Dr. Panay about 10 years ago when I was having perimenopause symptoms and saw a hormone specialist in the usa around the same time and they both insisted that I remove my Mirena coil and go on a low dose birth control pill to treat my perimenopause symptoms. I did so, and within 30 days all my adverse symptoms disappeared including a few things that I had no idea were hormone related like the bad-hair-day I'd had for the last 7 years which I blamed on the English humidity (I'm from California).
