mirena and hrt

hi can someone explain and let me know ...do i only need oestrogen hrt treatment as i have mirena very successfully for 8 yrs ...changed for new in 2010 so 5yrs and now new one for 3 yrs with no probs but noticing hot flushes about 4 a day and some dryness age 51

Mirena supplies you with the progesterone part of hrt, so only oestrogen is required. I think you need it changing every 4 years though.

My dr wants me to have the coil fitted to help my symptoms. Does it work for that?

Have a look at website above. It has a lot of useful information. Mirena can be used for bleeding problems in perimenopause and for the progesterone part of HRT. You will need oestrogen as well for hot flush- type symptoms.
