Since I head a breast lump scare my GP took me off Premique low dose and put me on Clonidine which I understand prescribed for high blood pressure but a side effect of it, is that it helps with hot flushes. I would prefer to stay on the clonide even with the dry mouth it gives me, but I still don't sleep well on it. Has anyone been on it or can suggest anything that might help with sleeping. I have a GP appt. on Friday to discuss but just thought I would try and get peoples views/experiences.

Hi No personal experience but my dr's opinion ( he's a consultant) is that benign cysts are not a contra indication for HRT but that HRT may increase the occurence of cysts if you have already had them-but equally there is no evidence that benign cysts become cancerous.

Not sure that helps but thought I'd pass it on.

Sorry- forgot- if you do go back to HRT it is worth thinking about bio identical oestrogen and progesterone ( in patches and gels rather than pills for the oestrogen) rather than Premique and other HRT made from equines. These were the drugs linked with the side effects in the MW and WHI studies and although there is a school of thought which says bio identical HRT may be safer.
