For 9 weeks I have struggled with regular hot flushes, they're roughly once an hour all day and night. I'm exhausted! Is this frequency normal? Is there anything I can take to ease them?
I'm the first of my friebds to go through this and am clueless!

Sounds to me within the bounds of 'normal'.
Mine were hourly- not massive ones like some women say they have, but certainly very regular and several throughout the night along with insomnia.
HRT is the answer.

Hrt is indeed your friend

Sounds a bit excessive to me!

I found that Boots Menolieve really helped.

As did cutting right down on carbs, caffeine and alcohol. I may have lied about cutting out one of those Grin

Please go and see your GP - it doesn't have to be this shit.
Another one saying HRT is worth a shot - it wasn't until HRT made me feel like myself again that I realised quite how low I'd been before.

BIWI · 18/11/2013 22:51

I would go and see your GP though, as they do sound terribly disruptive.

Sadly, I don't think they are excessive. But that's just based on a small sample of me, my friends and family. My mum had them badly and has never slept well since the menopause- she's 80s now and had flushes well into her 70s and at the time her dr said she was too old to start HRT in her 60s. They now think there is a window of opportunity for the 10 years after menopause when HRT's benefits outweigh the risks for women under 60 or within 10 years of starting meno.
