Mirena coil and estrogen patches

Hi I had the Mirena coil fitted in August and am also using estrogen patches. I had light bleeding to begin with but now its pretty heavy. I am wondering if it would help stop the bleeding if I didn't use the estrogen patches for a while or if that is likely to make things worse. Can anyone help?

Is the bleeding from the insertion of the mirena? I bled to varying degrees for almost six months after having the mirena put in - I don't think stopping the patches will change anything!

It might be worth a quick chat with the nurse at your gp practice if that's where you had the coil put in (although tbh I haven't found mine particularly knowledgable about menopause stuff).

A good website is www.menopausematters.co.uk

This is quite odd. The Mirena should stop bleeding but it may take a few months to completely settle down. You do need to go back to the dr to have the coil checked- it may be out of position and not working.
