Hello All,

Have been taking HRT Climagest for approx 18 months (can't remember exactly Blush and, although I have changed to the 2mg tablet, I do not have the withdrawal bleed I had when I first started taking it. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am due to see the GP in the next month so will mention this. While I have really benefitted from taking HRT I am wondering whether to continue with it or to try a more natural approach.

I started my meno at 42 and, frankly, am dreading the thought of not taking HRT as it really has made a difference to my general wellbeing but then I think perhaps I should investigate other avenues.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? TIA

Is Climagest a sequential HRT- ie 2 hormones, and a bleed after the progestin part of it after 4 weeks? You ought to be having a bleed and it's def. worth following this up. It could be that you still have some of your own hormones- oestrogen- and along with the 2mg HRT it's possible that the progestin in Climagest is not enough for you to bring on a bleed.

If you are now 42 + 18 months ( are you??) then it's a no brainer about continuing to take HRT- the advice is up to age 50 ( age of normal meno) because otherwise you are at risk of osteoporosis.

Good evening ladies and I am not sure I know anything or can be of any help. However I was just about to post a wee query about my Climagest 1mg pack. I am finished the 28 day pack today and am wondering do I start the next one tomorrow morning with no break? I have premature menopause and havent had a bleed for years and there is no sign of a bleed yest on this or will it start tomorrow marning? Missbobeep sounds like you know about HRT and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for your replies. Well, started my bleed this morning so am feeling (a bit crappy) slightly relieved. Will definately discuss with GP though.

Sparkling, as I understand it and have been taking it, you do start the next packet without break. Even though I am experiencing a few blips, the HRT made such a great difference to how I was feeling both physically and mentally. I'm sorry but I can't actually remember when the bleed happened but I do think I had a bleed just into the next 28 day packet when I first started taking them but then the following month the bleed came roughly around the last week of the 28 tablets. I hope that makes sense!

Once again, thanks for your replies, ESP

Thank you so much ESP for your advice, and
I also feel so much better on HRT though
the swelled boobs and tummy I could do
without! It will be interesting to see if I get a bleed
this month having just started it. I took a much
stronger one a few years ago and it didn't bring
on a bleed for a few months. Anyway I'm abroad
on my holidays and look forward to not being able
to go in the pool for a few days :))))) thanks again

sparkling- the truthful answer is that I don't know as I have never taken HRT pills. However, my knowledge of HRT pills ( through friends etc) is that you take constantly with no break.
It's actually negligent of your dr not to explain this to you, and the manufacturers not to put the info in the pack.

oh- and your bleed usually starts about 3 days after the last pill of the pack :)
