Is anyone taking HRT who has the Mirena Coil inserted? Which type of HRT do you have? Is it just oestrogen pills or patches I will need? Also, was there any bleeding when you started HRT? I've been period free for the past 2 years now with the Mirena and my night sweats are getting to the stage that I need to do something about it. I certainly din't want to start having periods again though

You won't have any bleeding if you have a Mirena.

Most specialists in meno would advise patches or gels over pills because you need less oestrogen as they bypass the liver, and have lower risk of stroke and heart disease. You can also control the amount you use, more easily than cutting a pill in half or whatever.

You can keep the mirena and that covers the oestrogen part of HRT. You can add progestogen only HRT to see if it abates your symptoms.

You have that the wrong way round- the Mirena has progesterone in it and you add oestrogen via another route.

Oh hell! Glad someone spotted that dreadful example of failure between brain and keyboard.
