Hot flashes with dreams and racing heart.

Is it only me that gets very violent or disturbing dreams when having hot flushes at night?
It's only been going on for a few months (I am 46); periods at all odd times, after 2 weeks, after 6.... in a completely foul mood- the whole time, and these hot flashes.
I wake up with a racing heart, and very odd dreams, verging on nightmares, such as I haven't had since I was a child- falling out of bed, being trapped, being held down, chased; that sort of thing. I am always very hot and my heart races. I throw the covers off and it all fades after a few minutes, but it takes me a while to get back to sleep.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I don't (I'm a bit mega-chilled and like to sleep lots, and my dreams are a load of rubbish, but have been known to wake me up) but since stress, anxiety and frustration all come with the raging hormones, it is probably quite usual. I am more likely to get freaked out by silly things during the day.

My biggest problem is that if I wake up wet, I can change my night clothes, but daren't wake OH so have to get back into wet bed

I don't seem to find references to the dreams any where. It's an odd one.

Re the wet sheets; what about a big beach towel underneath just you so you can swap it easily in the night? Or you can buy toweling material which is sometimes wider and not as fluffy and hot making.

I don't really get the sweats with the night flushes, but I live in a tropical country so we sweat a lot anyway and I can empathize with the wet sheets. We do the towel trick at this time of the year when it is building to the rainy season and humidity is a killer (though we put them under the sheet). It at least absorbs moisture better than the sheet on its own and protects the mattress.

Dahlia, you need to sleep on a beach towel, and have a single sheet over it. Then when you wake up wet you can whip them out, towel yourself off and get back in. Use as many layers as you need, like the orincess and the pea!

I also get weird trapped feeling dreams, where I'm being chased, or being suffocated and I also wake up with heart pounding and covered in sweat.

I'm thinking ill have to bite the bullet and get my long hair cut as its just manky every morning, and I can't wash it every day!
