Slight panic!

I've recently been seen by a gynaecologist for very heavy periods, causing anaemia. I'm 50 and presumed I'm perimenopausal, periods still fairly regular, but no hot flushes, yet.
So I went for a pelvic scan this morning and there is something in my uterus that resembles an early pregnancy sac. Scan lady got me to poas, negative. Last period was December 4th, haven't used contraception for 10 years as presumed I'm sub fertile. Last pregnancy 7 years ago. I have been feeling very sick since New Years Eve.
I have a very poor obstetric history, one child, and several miscarriages.
Advised to repeat test in a week or so if no AF.
Now panicking!!!!

Pointless post really, but needed to "talk" to someone other than DH who is walking round in daze

How do you feel about it OP? Would it be a happy surprise or a disaster for you? I guess that's what it hinges on.

Oh Isee- you mean pee on a stick- preggers test.

How would you feel? Was the scan for your heavy periods or for something else?

It's not impossible you are pregnant by any means and sometimes near the menopause the ovaries become more active shooting out the last eggs in a last ditch attempt.

Would you have the baby?

Hi, if I am pregnant, and it is a viable pregnancy, I think I would go ahead with it.
I have got to the 9/10 week mark many times and miscarried. I also had a late termination as the foetus had Edwards Syndrome.
It would cause chaos, but I couldn't terminate a healthy pregnancy.

How would you feel about the tests available to determine if the baby ( if there is one) were healthy?

It's no mean feat having a child at 50- you need to consider your own health and well being as well as the baby. Looking ahead- you'd be almost 70 before they had finished school.

Please keep us all up to date ! There r so many worse things in the world than a wee baby :-) obviously it'll b hard work being an older mum but hey Ho ?! Is parenthood ever easy ??? Ur health is again obviously important......but what a lovely welcome surprise is all ok :-)
