Premenstrual symptoms for 2-3 weeks a month. Is this the menopause?

My periods have always been as regular as clockwork with pre-menstrual symptoms 2-3 days before my period. I am no2 47, and over the past few months I have had premenstrual symptoms for around 2-3 weeks each month (backache, sore boobs, irritability, tiredness). It goes for around a week or two after I start my period, but then kicks off again. My periods are also getting slightly progressively further apart (maybe just by a day each month). Has anyone else had symptoms like this during the menopause? I'm wondering if it's that.

I think PMS type symptoms are exaggerated in the run up to menopause - the perimenopause phase. I'm similar age and have struggled with escalating PMS for a few years. It's can be grim at times. I have found high does of Evening Primrose oils seems to help. I was initially only taking a low does which seemed to have zero affect.
