no periods for 3 years.
On HRT premique 5mg for 2 years with no problems.

And now dam it, period has returned full on! I had a small breakthrough bleed last month but that has been all for years.
What the hell is going on. Just got my head around being menopausal.
Nothing else is unusual.

Have you missed any HRT pills? been sick, upset tummy etc?

How old are you?

Any bleeding after such a long break must be reported without delay to your dr- they will probably send you for a scan and maybe a hysteroscopy.

I had slight break through bleeding on HRT and my gyane "alowed me" to have a couple of episodes without investigation then inisisted he took a look etc.

You mustn't ignore it- probably nothing but do get it checked.

zanz1bar - post menopause you can have a little residual hormonal activity now and again (is what I was told in your situation)

I agree with advice for a GP visit though, because PMBleed is a sign of cancer very occasionally.

I've now had two episodes and each time they have done a minor biopsy (like a smear) which has been normal.

I am 44 and had a smear last month that came back normal, but think I will have a word with the gp.
Just get my head around the menopause and then it all comes flooding back, no pun intended.

The risk is your endometrial lining not the cervix. :)

Currently having another PMB. Bit fed up as I've had two endometrial biopsies and this is just recurrent and I'm 9 yrs PM

The thing is- you went onto HRT only one year after no periods- so in theory you might not be post meno- although at your age one year without a period does qualify you for that badge!

You could still be peri- but taking HRT would give you regualr cycles.

This could be a real period but you need to talk to dr- it's not a smear issue, it's lniing of your womb.

HIGHLY unlikely to be anything serious though.

Okay, so I went to the gp really not expecting much more than a flippant " it happens sometimes".
Well now I have a pelvic scan at the hospital on Monday.
Glad I listened to you lovely ladies and went to the gp, but now my head is in a spin and I am trying very hard not to start googling.
Can I have some hand holding till I get some answers?
