Sorry if this is TMI but I've just had a weird period. Shorter than usual cycle (24 days instead of 28) and very watery period. No hot flushes or anything like that but I've been quite itchy and I'm having trouble shifting some weight.

Does this sound like I could be approaching the menopause? I'm 44 but my big sister started at 43 and was told it runs in families.

Dunno Mummy, does sound like it could be, but if I bump for you, someone like cabbageroses will be along fairly soon.

yes i am here.

No answers I'm afraid Smile maybe it is, maybe it's not. a single shorter cycle is nowt to get your knickers in a twist over!

You are the right age for the peri meno- actual meno can still be 10 years off.

The gradual change can take 10 years!

I had some weird mid cycle spotting around 47, and a couple of funny shorter cycles, but my last period was at 54.

yes, it is hereditary to an extent. You will just have towait and see. re. the weight- keep exercising and stop eating so much- your metabolism does change so you need to adjust your diet.
