just turned 46, periods getting odder ie 17 day cycle (short ones) and sometimes longer ie 30. no night sweats. hormonal most of the time. sometimes i have light bleeds a week/5 days before af, some months af lingers on for a week or so very very light spotting but had recent scan (few months ago) to check it out via gp and all seemed fine, had recent smear too which was ok. this month however i am really late (cd40), did a pg test, neg. question - when women start to miss periods do they still get af symptoms as i still have bloated tummy with mild cramping and larger boobs, perhaps i will still come on and it is all hormonal nonsense, would appreciate knowing if this sounds familiar. i would have thought that when you miss an af you wouldn't have any symptoms but i could be totally wrong, thanks

I am in the same boat! I am 47. ALthough I know it's very unlikely I am pregnant it is a bit strange. Quite pleased not to have the blood loss, though.

yes- looking back (I am 2 years post meno) I got all the symptoms of PMS but no bleeding with quite a few cycles.

I'm the same. Feel like I have been pre-menstrual for over 2 weeks but no period.

Its hard for me to get my head around this as have always been very regular.

thanks for your posts chaps, comforting to know other women similar age going through the same thing. i haven't come on, don't know if i ever will again although i would have thought i will. i miss them! i never minded my periods. i am so bloated and hormonal, at least when you come on your tummy goes down and pm's go away, i feel trapped in a lift!!

You are quite likely to have more periods- the peri meno can go on for years- so this stop start pattern is normal.
