Can your periods stop 'just like that?'

Hi -I shall be 50 next week . . . Apart from when I had the kids, my periods were regular as clockwork. I have now not had a period since July. Is this it? So quick and easy? I have occasionally woken up drenched in sweat! - but apart from that no sign of anything.

lovemydog I find myself wondering the same - only I haven't had a period since March!

I'm late 40s and I was regular every month. I took the mini pill for 2 months (and hated it, so stopped), starting in mid March & haven't had a period since then. For weeks now, I've felt bloated and irritable and like I desperately need my period to start but NOTHING!

Well I am 51 and not had a period since June - so around 6 months now. I am definitely menopausal as I went a whole 11 months without them and bang they came! I have had terrible hot flushes and nigh sweats and did take some asda supplements but the hot flushes started up again despite the supplements so started on evening primrose oil and I have to say they are much less if not completely gone.

But 2 years from last period before you don't need contraceptives

neveradullmoment99 · 20/12/2018 21:15

That's a bonus EXCEPT

  1. You don't feel like it because of the hot flushes.
  2. You are too tired to dtd.
  3. You find it painful.
  4. It is all round less pleasurable[ dryness, lack of orgasm yada yada].

Life is cruel.
