Hi, I've just moved from London to Kettering with my DH and DD (17 months).

Does anyone know any good Mother and Toddler groups where I can meet other Mums? Would be great to hear from anyone else in the Northants area.

Thanks

Know just how you're feeling, MrsKing. We moved to a village just north of Northampton a year ago. It takes a while to settle in especially as we moved in the summer hols just as all the mums & toddler groups ended for the hols. We perservered and a year later my ds 4 and dd 2 have a nice but small group of friends. Get out to as many groups as you can is my advice, the start to narrow them down when you can afford to be picky. Also get DD onto the waiting list for the local pre-school. That way when he is 2.6 you can meet the other mums there. Ours had a horrendous waiting list.

Hello!! I've just moved up to Rockingham and am SO in the same boat. Came up from London and would love to meet up and brave the groups together if you fancy it. I'm freelancing in London at the moment, and traveling down from Kettering, but finish tomorrow - woo hoo and need to get out and meet people. I've got 2 boys 2, and 6 months. Let me know anyway. The Health visitor's dropping off a list of groups today...

Hi all, I have just joined mumsnet tonite, i have a dd 26mths and a ds 2mths. I live in leicestershire, but am from Burton Latimer. I stil go to a mums and tots in Burton every Thursday, it closes in the school hols but still has this weeks to go. It costs 50p to join and 50p per week, it starts at 9.15am till 2.30ishpm, u can have dinner there and is cheap, normally costs me about £1.80 for me and dd, with puddings as well !!!! Coffee is 10p. There is a lot for the kids to play with and i always have a great day out. It is at Burton methodist church, or it maybe baptist church, sorry. It is on meeting lane off church street, u go along the street and on the right hand side u will c a big building, just before the builders yard, u have to go up a big slope to the car park on the way up to the car park u will c the doors. Anyone is welcome to come along and it is very friendly.
Also i am not sure of the details but i think that sure start do a mums and tots on a friday, ask your hv i am sure that she wil be able to help. Also pen green in corby have a drop in day on wed, in the baby nest 9-30-11.30 i think aint been to that one yet but will be soon.

Have only just come back from holiday and realised that most groups are only on during term-time. Doh!

But after the summer hols I will definitely try out a few.

Bumbled where are you living now? Bet you're glad you're not in London right now.

Littleleigh, your group in Burton sounds good. Dinner as well is a bonus!

Took dd to Kids Kingdon at the leisure village in Kettering yesterday with her cousin. A bit steep at £3.50 to get in but she seemed to enjoy it. Probably too busy during the hols though.

Great to have had so many responses, maybe we should organise a meet-up?

Evening ladies, so glad to see people out there. Had an excellent fact finding mission today in a local village, and I think I might have found toddler central - finally! Was beginning to wonder... I've found out about some really nice toddler groups that meet in 2nd week of Sept, from some lovely, v. friendly mums that live nearby. How about a trip to Wicksteed in the meantime - do you fancy a pinic? It's a brilliant place for all ages, in Kettering and I loved it as a kid and am happy to say my son agrees. Anyway, let me know if you would like to go. I'm woefully free almost all the time.... oh dear!

MrsKing · 25/07/2005 08:33

I was thinking Wicksteed too!

Hope you find some nice groups.

Bumbled · 02/08/2005 21:17

God, so sorry I haven't written in ages, been helping out my mum and sister with their catering company and it's been Wedding city at the moment, I'm battered! So Wicksteed it is then, how about Friday, are you free??

HellKat · 06/08/2005 17:46

Hiya all,
Wickys sounds fab. When and what time?

MrsKing · 08/08/2005 09:55

Maybe we should post a separate message re. picnic at Wicksteed and see what kind of response we get??

The more the merrier!

Good idea, I've just taken another 2 weeks work, but don't think I'll do this again, am actually finally starting to prefer being at home - woo hoo!!

How about we meet at Wicksteed at 10am on Thurs 25th August?? I'll start another thread as well to cover all bases, and hopefully we'll get a small crowd together.... Let me know what you think.

MrsKing · 13/08/2005 12:56

Sorry, haven't had access to my pc for the last few days.....25th sounds fine, lets go for it!

Hello everyone. I have moved back to Kettering after having a little time out from the place. Do let me know if you are planning another meet after the 25th as my kids are going to grandparents on the 24th DS is 5 and DD is 3 with another one on the way (any day now). But it would be great to meet with mums in the area especialy as i wil be having another one soon and I want to be as motivated as I am now in keeping in touch with people the last thing I want for myself is to be knee deep in in nappies and baby sick and feeling lonely to boot!

Bumbled · 18/08/2005 10:33

I can't make it now - Booo. Just been confirmed for another week's work which I'm gutted about, had to cheer myself up with an inordinately expensive pair of jeans. So want to be back home... Anyway. Is there any chance we could move it to the week after?? Same time, same place? If not then hopefully I'll make the next meeting, and hope you have a wonderful time.

Hi everyone I'm a mumsnet newbie and my name is Savita and I'm a single mum. I've just moved to Kettering from London. Are there any mums who would like to meet up for a coffee? I have a gorgeous two year old boy, and would love to make new friends:)

I know Kettering well as I lived here until 1992 and then moved to Newcastle to study. Then after this I worked in London. It would be great to be involved in my local community and meet other mums.
