we might be able to make it
can I gatecrash a bit too if anyone's around right now and ask where are good outdoors places with not tooooooo many kids to take toddlers to in Sheffield? We're going down to my sisters quite a few times this next few months and she hasn't got kids, so doesn't have a clue. She lives in S7 (don't know if that means anything to you?) TIA

jamiesam · 06/06/2005 22:13

Wow that was fast!

Yes please, and Friday 29th good for me too (or indeed any Friday in July except 22nd)

Hulababy · 06/06/2005 22:13

I could probably do that yes - is that when half term starts? I

How about saying July or August? I might not be able to do first Friday in August though - Dh has week off.

morocco - what kind of thing are you looking for?

If you just want open grassy places - Botanical Gardens, off Ecclesall Road

Park - Endcliffe park, top of Ecclesall Road. Lots of grass, children's park, bouncy castle.

Graves Park - has a little fam there - free. has car park too.

City Farm - lots of animals to see and a lovely cafe serving home cooked food. Not much running around space though.

Hulababy · 06/06/2005 22:15

Oh yes, probably can't do 22nd either - DH's birthday!

Morocco - not sure what you mean about not too many kids?

I'm in S7 - all the parks round here worth going to are driving distance, highly recommend Graves Park (big park and animal park/farm), or Millhouses Park (linear park runs alongside stream and railway line) or Endcliffe/Bingham Park (duck ponds and nice linear walk) - all have nice playgrounds and cafes. In S7, Chelsea Park playground is to be opened this weekend! Not worth a big trip to though! Small neighbourhood park whereas others are more 'district' parks...

jamiesam · 06/06/2005 22:23

Far too slow there!

By the way, I keep meaning to visit the City Farm too, as I'm told they sell lovely plants - might tempt your sister?

morocco · 06/06/2005 22:32

this is fab already - we're going there tomorrow too so we'll check one of them out - maybe city farm? is it cheap? sis will love the flowers idea
(the not too many kids things is just one of my little paranoias at the moment as ds is a bit ill and I'm overly protective mummy about him catching anything, this will be one of my first ventures out for a while)

Hulababy · 07/06/2005 18:49

City farm is free

Ah, just seen - it was today. Where did you go? Have fun? Weather was great for it!

jamiesam · 08/06/2005 22:43

Aah, I'll have to duck out if it's the 5th August. Maybe next time.

morocco · 08/06/2005 22:53

city farm was great, really good fun, we got to stroke the baby rabbits. ds fell over and bled everywhere and they gave us a free icecream to stem the huge amount of blood too. bonus.
