How is the best way to make new Friends

Can anyone tell me the best way to make new friends.

School is out as I don't collect my DS his CM does.

There are no M&T's groups around, and the gym is all clicky.

Why is it so hard nowadays to make friends???

The problem is I do work and with males, also DH doesnt like things like walking, hiking, anything energetic, he'd prefer to stop at home, he has his few friends and refuses to make new ones.

We see his mates, but its not the same as having a friend(s) of your own.

I have tried the gym, swimming, which is what I love.

I go to a few M&T's groups but they are all clicky and not interested in speaking.

I am very forward to am not afriad to say fancy a cuppa etc.

Again that's a problem I am too forward, speak my mind, confident, I think I scare people

Salsa! Give it a go. Lots of friendly people there. I'm also rather loud and speak my mind and am confident. I find it works in my favour as much as not.

astonished · 24/05/2005 23:56

I made some wonderful friends throuhg M & T groups, agree that some can be really clicky and quite unfriendly but think you have to try a few and hopefully you will find a nice one. Seems to me that ones where lots of childminders go and the most unfriendly, however saying that I have just made quite a good friend at a M & T group who is a childminder. I find kids are a great way of meeting new people and making friends. I have a lot more friends now as a SAHM than when I worked.

I agree with the below comment that I have made more friends since having my dd but do think it is sometimes hard to make friends when there are clicks and can get lonely sometimes although my dd keeps me busy! Good luck keep trying!

I work and only have thursdays off, and there are no M&T's by me, over the other side of town, but then you all know what its like with a baby trying to get out for 10am or even 9.30am.

When baby is older I might be able to go to some more.

Most are on M T W or F which is no good as I work.

I am not frightened to go to M&T's I take it as a challenge to speak to people and if needs be annoy them by talking to them.

When my DS1 was younger I went to a M&baby group and it was the sheer fact that I spoke to about 3-4 new mums that they came back and they told me this. But obviously as kids grow and work etc you loose touch.

I would just like a mate or too, who would like to get together once a week or once every other week for a cuppa or play etc, day or early evening, but as I said they are few & far between.

No it aint Lav.
